Welcome to the fourth iteration of Nick Green Photography! I had realised it was time for a refresh, so during the past few months I have been gradually putting together this site. As you will see it has now reached quite large proportions at least in terms of content! This process has taken a lot of hard work but I hope you think the results were worth it!
For those new to the site I am an English outdoor & landscape photographer although my photographic prioriities have had to change due to illness in my Border Collies Jack & Keld. More about that later.
I live & work in the English Lake District. I am passionately proud of my heritage. I have a broad range of photographic interests and my portfolio reflects this. I love England, and in particular the Lake District, my home. For many, many years I have walked amongst The Fells of The Lakes spending many hours and travelling 1000`s of miles in the company of my two Border Collies, Jack & Keld. We have camped on the high Fell sometimes for days, enjoying the solitude and raw beauty of the mountains. These areas were a constant inspiration for my photography!
However just over 2 years ago my youngest Collie, Keld was diagnosed with Lumbar Sacral disease of the spine that ended his ability to cover even moderate distances. In June of this year I was devastated for the second time when my dear Collie & best friend Jack was diagnosed with bladder cancer. Our lives were to change forever!
So for the last 2 years or so my photographic emphasis has changed from landscape and now includes The Settle and Carlisle Railway (72 miles of a photographers dream) to motorcycle sport; speedway and Moto-Cross. While I desperately miss wandering the Fells with the boys, I have embraced this change, The terrible news of Jack’s cancer devastated me and the situation has taken it’s toll on us all. I attempt to match his great inner strength but constantly fail! He was given about 2 months to live but is still here, still beating the clock, what sheer guts!
We now have a superb collection of images recording The Settle & Carlisle Railway in the 21st century; everything from the stations to the signals, viaducts to the memorials even the Pubs! There is without doubt more material available on this wonderful railway line than any one person could hope to record in a life time; good fun trying though! Due to the huge collection of images I now have in respect of the Settle and Carlisle Railway and because the project will expand, I have decided to produce a dedicated website for the railway, A Photographers Settle and Carlisle . A small gallery of the line will remain here. I have also started to write a book but this has turned out to be a long term project! For now most of my time is taken up looking after Jack and we are all just trying to enjoy what precious time we have together.
So please enjoy exploring the site. To purchase any of my images please visit my online shop. Images in the shop are just examples, ALL images on this site are available for purchase, please ask.
The site is updated very regularly and new images are posted regularly.
So, for now we hope you enjoy your visit.
This site is dedicated to my best friend Jack.
